Video Update

Hello There!
As you can tell from the video, I got my hair done. And it's dark. Realllllly dark!
Not really what I was expecting, but I'm trying to get used to it.
I might go and get it done again, but I really don't want to damage it.
So I might just let it fade out. Anywho, just talking about some new products
and what not in the video.

Love your blog! I'm addicted... And I liked your hair lighter, but as a blonde I feel that my bias is for blondes... Good luck with your hair, it's the most frustrating thing to not like your hair color..

Kelly said...

Let it fade out!! If there is time before your wedding I think it's going to fade out. You don't want to keep damaging it with hair chemicals. I've always liked darker hair color so I like this it makes your features stand out. Plus as long as your FIANCE likes it, then keep it!

while i liked your sun-kissed ombre hair, i really also like the dark hair on you. with that being said...wedding day hair is HUGE. these will be the pictures you look at for the rest of your life so YOU have to love it. if it were me, i would let it fade naturally instead of lifting the color again.

loving that new lipstick too!

Your hair looks really good. You're right, it is dark, been there before, but you'll get used to it. I agree with the other comment about letting it fade out. Your hair looks very healthy and getting it done soon after might damage it, but I'm sure the salon will use extra conditioner to prevent damage.Happy Valentine's Day!

I love your hair! It will definitely get lighter after a few shampoos :) happy valentines day!

I loooove your hair this dark! Your beautiful features stand out so much more than with blonde hair-although that was beautiful also. But I love the pale skin darker hair with red lips look! It's so Scarlett Johansen and gorgeous!

Hi Julia!)) Like the red lipstick!and would love a lip&hair product video or post from you too)) As for the dark hair, due to my own experience, oil treatments take out the colour, for example try dr.hauschka neem oil (coconut oil, argan),distribute all over your hair for a couple hours with a towel on top(for heat)or overnight, and wash it out,1-2 times a week, really helped me wash out the dark to a much lighter color in a month with no damage to my hair, hope this helps!xo-nasty2night

almost forgot!claryfing shampoos stip the dark colour out aswell!Hope all works out for you,I know how frustrating it feels to not have what you want/expected:)) hope you had a great valentines day.

I love your hair!! I think it looks great!! you should let it fade out and if you decide you don't like how it looks maybe you can color it like a month before your wedding! but just give it a try for a couple of months and maybe with the sun it will get a little lighter!

I think your hair looks really great! It reminds me of Ashley Greene with the makeup/eyes. But I know what you mean about not feeling like yourself, since it was a big change from the blonde. How far is your wedding? I think since you already colored it a few times, you could prob wait a bit for it to fade. I read Jennifer Lawrence's hairstylist told her to use stripping shampoos, which faded her hair nicely from the dark it was for filming the hunger games...http://news.instyle.com/2012/01/25/jennifer-lawrence-red-hair/

Your hair is definitely a lot darker than it was...but I think it looks really pretty! The darker hair also makes your eye color stand out a lot more. I'd say hold off on dying your hair, just so it doesn't get too damaged. Hope you had a great Valentine's Day! :)

Wow what a change! But I think you look great with this dark hair color.
Before my wedding my hairdresser didn't allow me to do anything with my hair just tiny trimm of my ends and thats it.

Keep the dark for a little while, it makes your eyes pop and highlights the beautiful bone structure in your face. Something new does take time to get used to but I hope you can come to find this change as something positive.

GOOD GOD! You are absolutely gorgeous no matter what color your hair is. However, I MUST say that I LOVE it dark. I am so envious, I wish I could pull off that dark color. I promise you, it looks amazing!

Unknown said...

Of course you look amazing with any hair color. The dark looks great, but my honest opinion? I like your hair lighter. I think the lighter shades amplify your pretty skin tone and eyes, especially in pictures!

Don't worry, it will fade. I say give it a couple of weeks. You'll like it more once it fades out. And if you decide you don't like it, the good news is you can always change it!

I think your hair looks fantastic this dark. It really brings out your blue eyes and makes them POP. I actually think lighter hair can wash people out, but this hair color really makes all your features stand out. Keep it for a while and get used to it before you make any decisions.

(Sorry for my english... i'm french..^^) You are beautiful, don't worry! but it's true, dark hair harden your face... You should try anti-dandruff shampoo like Head and Shoulder menthol, more fast to fade your color ;)

I love your hair dark!!! Very flattering shade on you. I went dark a year and a half ago and it took about 3 months to get used to and as you put it not feel like I was wearing a wig. Let it fade a bit and see if you can get used to it!! xx

Julia, you are one of those rare people that any hair color looks lovely on. I mean that! I know the dark color probably looks so strange to you with the shock of going from golden to chocolate but honestly it looks great on you. Your skin tone is complimented by it. If I were you I would let it fade on its own instead of damaging it with stripping the color out. You definatley want your hair to be looking healthy for your wedding and not damaged. As the color fades a little you will get used to it. XO- Janell

I love your hair! I know you might not like it immediately, but you've had it done so many times recently that you really shouldn't get it "stripped." I had my hair your color once and my mom hated it so much she asked me to get it stripped, which I did, and the results were awful after that. Maybe it was just my salon/hairdresser, but basically when they strip your hair, the hair underneath becomes kinda yellowish blonde, and when they put the new color on I swore that the yellow showed through. It was pretty ugly for a few months lol!

The new color looks great! Going dark is always an adjustment and is hard to get used to, but it honestly looks gorg!!

You seem so unsure about your hair! Honestly, it looks great and it really brings out your eye color. Let it fade out a bit and see how you like it, but then maybe go lighter for the wedding.

Anonymous said...

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS with the dark hair! Love it! Makes your eyes really pop!

Keep it for awhile, but if you feel most in your own skin with lighter hair, I'd say go back to that before your wedding -- you'll want to feel your absolute best on your big day.

I think you look absolutely gorgeous with dark hair, but it seems like the dramatic change is upsetting you. It will get lighter, and you will get used to it, but hair color is about you. If you don't love it, it doesn't matter what other people think.

I recently did the same thing with my highlighted hair. At first I was really unsure because it was so much darker than I wanted it to be. But two weeks later it is fading out to a much better shade and my old highlights are softly showing through.

You look gorgeous either way! But I preferred your hair lighter.
I think you should let the color fade a bit, which is going to happen after some baths. Don't try to dye them again, you don't want to ruin them. They are so healthy and beautiful.

dont strip it that is so damaging on your hair. i am a cosmetologist and it really will fade so much with the blonde under it so just give it a little time before you do anything else, i think it looks SO pretty dark too!

I LOVE the color. I can see how scary it might be to look in the mirror and not even recognize yourself.... If you let it fade I think it will turn into the color you want it to be. But for now, keep it. It makes your eyes look vibrant and it makes red lips that much more fabulous

Lovee the dark on you! I know it's a shocker, I've done that before too. I would say stay dark until sometime before the wedding. I think you'll want something more "you" and neutral so you won't look back and be like wow that doesn't look like me... But definitely love the dark on you!

Being a hairstylist, I change my hair a lot.... I usually have your exact same ombre blondish and then go dark in the winter... I would wait a little bit longer before coloring it again... Because it was so light before it will fade really fast and the more "Virgin" hair your stylist has to work with the better... So for now enjoy your sexy dark hair... you are gorgeous!!!

Anonymous said...

love the dark hair! lightening it again so soon with compromise the health and structure of your hair, so I would definitely leave it how it is. It will fade a little in a few weeks anyway.

I love your hair dark! It really makes your eyes pop and makes your hair look so healthy! As someone who has gone from blonde to brown a fewww times I know it can take get some getting used to, but I think that it will warm up to you! If you do decide to go lighter than you could possibly just add a few highlights in the front of your face to make it appear lighter without ruining your hair so badly. Thats what I did last time and even 10 highlights just in the front made a huge difference!

I think you should go back to light hair. You're so beautiful either way.
