Weekend Stripes

Sweater Michael Stars, Skirt J. Crew, Heels Banana Republic, Sunnies Ray Ban, Bracelets c/o Stella & Dot (here, here and here)

This past weekend I realized that I pretty much wear stripes every weekend.
There is just something about a simple striped t shirt that remains chic and casual.
Thomas and I just got done planning our honeymoon to Italy and I can't help
but put outfits together in my head of what I'll be wearing. Lots of stripes included.
P.S. We will be going to Milan, Florence, Rome and the Amalfi Coast and would
greatly appreciate any recommendations!

Since you're going to be so close, I'd suggest to take a day trip to Venice (if you haven't been yet). Totally worth it! :)

  27. Stripes are my favourite print, and I have entirely too many of them in my wardrobe, but I can't help it - my excuse is always that it's a classic print! :P

Your honeymoon plans sound wonderful, I fell in love with Florence last summer when I spent a month there. You have to visit the Duomo, it's an incredible building (make sure to buy tour tickets at the nearby Museum, don't stand in line for hours) and just walk around the city - it's a small city compared to North American ones and you can really walk to anywhere you're going (one of the things I love most about it, and Europe in general), it's the best way to take in the sights. If you have time, try going on a day trip to Siena, a lovely nearby town, it's well worth it. Oh boy, I could talk on and on about this, so I'll end it here but I'd be more than happy to give you more recommendations about Florence (and surroundings) if you still need them - unfortunately I didn't get a chance to visit the other cities you mentioned while I was there.

Hope you're having a great start to the week!

  28. Dinner at Santopadre in Rome is a must (you have to make a reservation)! As well at Pizzeria Ai Marmi in Rome on Viale De Trastevere. After living there for 4 months these are by far my favorite places to eat!

    Enjoy!

  29. I love this outfit!! So simple but so chic! You look stunning. I lived in Italy for 2 years and I would be happy to help in any way! I can give you very detailed advice and answer questions you may have along the way of planning. My email is inspirationsinitaly@gmail.com (created a few months before I moved there, hehe) and my blog posts used to be all done from Rome! I am back in San Diego now, but missing it every day. I'm so happy you will see Rome and the Amalfi Coast - we took a weekend vacation to Sorrento and it was absolutely amazing. Feel free to message email or even message me on twitter if you have questions! @rachel_dapaura

  30. I just got back from Florence, it was amazing! My few pieces of advice: Most galleries are closed on Monday in Florence, including the Academy if you want to see David. The Academy also has weird hours so plan ahead. If you are taking trains be sure to validate your tickets at the little machines before getting on the train, thus saving 100 euro when you get caught on the train with an unvalidated ticket :/ woops. And if you want to see the Last Supper in Milan you need to secure tickets and reservations 2 weeks or more in advance. Have a wonderful time!

  34. Your honeymoon destinations sound similar to my husband and I's last September. We had the time of our life! One of the weeks we were over there we rented a villa in Positano and if that is where you will be while on the Amalfi coast a visit to the restaurant Bar Bruno is a must!

    ReplyDelete
  35. While in Milan you MUST eat at Nabucco (ask your concierge where to go)...it is romantic, small and some place only the locals know about. In Florence, you absolutely have to climb to the top of the Duomo--its a tough workout but the view from the top is amazing (dont do the bell-tower climb, its not as high and not as pretty).
Also in Florence, you have to try the restaurant Il Porscupino (The Porcupine) amazing and quaint!

  36. I love how you knotted the sweater in the front!

  37. I think Rome is my favorite city in all of Europe! I've been 3 times and it never gets old. You can download Rick Steeve's audio tours for free from iTunes and listen to them at the different sites. We did it last time I went for the Colosseum and it was very cool! There is so much to see in all of the places you are going I would try to kind of plan out the things that you really want to see and do those first and then fit in all of the little ones at the end. You will LOVE it!

  38. Oh so pretty! Italy, YES please! xoxo

  46. I just studied abroad in Rome and had a few favorite pizzerias: Dar Poeta (make sure to order the Nutella Calzone for dessert) and Pizzera Ai Marmi. My favorite gelato places were: La Gelateria Frigidarium (they dip the cones of gelato in chocolate), Giolitti, San Crispino, and Old Bridge. All delicious! Enjoy your trip!

I just love stripes but my hubby hates when I wear it because he says I look like a sailor. LOL! I can't help but buy stripes and then wear it when he's not around.

  49. Positano is a must! It is a beautiful little town on the coast. My family and I went to a farmhouse in the area for dinner, the wine was amazing!

  50. Stripes are a staple, I find myself wearing them all the time too! I've been to Rome and Florence on your list, and loved them both. Rome is actually considered "small" and you can literally walk the entire city. My husband and I did that! It's such a great way to catch in all the sites by foot and see things you would miss if you were in a vehicle!

There's a local beach with old sail boats to lay out in. Also save money to have a pair of sandals handmade! You will love!!! Florence has fabulous deals on leather.... Bargain!! And the old bridge of Pontevecchio is beautiful. Rome head to Trastavere for great bars and dining. If in season try the fried artichoke. Ok have a blast! Need more? Head to thebabygoat.com

  58. Italy is amazing! I just got back from a study abroad trip three days ago. Florence was one of my favorite places. You need to go to the Piazzale Michelangelo to watch the sunset. It is absolutely breathtaking. You should also climb the Duomo. It is a bit of a challenge but so worth it in the end. It is much better than the bell tower. If you go in the morning, there will not be a huge crowd so you won't have to wait in line.
As for restaurants, I loved Fiaschetteria da il Latini. The experience was just as good as the food. Here is their website: http://151.11.45.70/opencms/esercizistorici/smn/Latini.html?changeLang=en&
Venchi (in Piazza del Mercato Nuovo) is a great gelato place to try. They also have little chocolates that are delicious.
Hope you have a wonderful trip!

  59. Hi there, just found your blog thanks to Pinterest. Love your style. Italy is my favourite place. If you're heading to Milan and staying you should try and get to Lake Como for at least a day. It's a bit of a drive but so worth it. The views are breathtaking. It has an easiness about the place, laid back. Bellagio is my personal stand out place on the lake and you can get one of the shuttle boats and basically have a very cheap tour of the lake!
