3 Ways To Wear A Bow

1. Tied around your head. Pair with a t-shirt and jeans for a touch of
girly-ness.
2. Tied around a low ponytail. Simple way to spruce up the everyday
ponytail.
2. Tied around a high ponytail. Pair with a playful dress and blazer.
Sweater Awear, Earrings Sorrelli

This is a simple and inexpensive way to change up your everyday
hairstyle. I bought a spool of black satin ribbon and plan on using
it not only in my hair, but in my wardrobe as well. More to come on that!

How-To: Top Knot

Step 1: Part hair down the middle and gather at base of neck
Step 2: Pull hair into a high ponytail, leaving the part
Step 3: Hold base of ponytail with one hand a twist the ponytail with
the other hand
Step 4: Once the ponytail is twisted, start to wrap around into a bun
Step 5. Secure with a hair tie
Step 6. Pull a few loose hairs down for a laid-back look

I wear my hair like this multiple times throughout the week when I'm
too lazy to do anything else. It's quick, simple and easy and can be
worn up high or at the base of the neck as well.

Twisted Ponytail

This ponytail is one of the simplest, quickest hair-dos and
appears a lot more complicated than it actually is.
My mom used to do my hair like this when I was little
and I have been doing it ever since.
Step 1. Put your hair into a low ponytail and secure it.
Step 2. Create a gap in the middle of your hair right above the
hair tie.
Step 3. Flip your ponytail toward your head and push it through
the gap. Pull it out and tighten.

Let's Talk Primer...

To tell you the truth, I never really understood the purpose or reason for using a
primer before applying my makeup. I've read countless articles, watched youtube videos
and listened to makeup professionals all rave and rant about using primers.
I figured what I was doing worked and I really didn't need to try anything else out.
When Smashbox sent me a box filled with all of their different types of primers, I figured
this was the perfect time to give it a try.
You guys, I'm sold!
I never knew that it would make such a dramatic difference in the way my makeup
lays on my face and stays on all day! Sometimes I do my makeup, leave the house,
look in the mirror three hours later and it's as if all my makeup blew off my face!
Since using the Smashbox primers, my makeup now goes on evenly and stays in
place all day long.
Smashbox has nine different primers that are for every skin type.
Not only do they feel like silk gliding onto your face, they are all oil free and
won't irritate your skin. I tested each one to figure out my favorites and to teach
you guys the difference between them.

Smashbox Photo Finish, Classic- This is the first primer from Smashbox
and the perfect first primer to try out if you're not sure which one is for you.
Smashbox Photo Finish, Light- This primer is ideal for oily, acne-prone
or sensitive skin.
Smashbox Photo Finish, SPF 15- This primer reduces the appearance of fine
lines and wrinkles. If you are super sun-concious, this is the one for you!

Color Correcting Series:
Smashbox Photo Finish, Color Correcting Blend- This primer counteracts brown
spots and helps color correct and even out your skin tone.
Smashbox Photo Finish, Color Correcting Adjust- This primer reduces redness
and corrects blotchy skin tone.
Smashbox Photo Finish, Color Correcting Balance- This primer helps brighten
 up dull skin.

These are my three favorite primers that I used.

Smashbox Photo Finish, Dark Spot Correcting- This primer reduces dark spots,
diminishes acne marks and improves radiance. I like to use it under my eyes to
help with my dark circles. It also had made a drastic impact on helping my
under eye concealer stay in place throughout the day.
Smashbox Photo Finish, Hydrating- This primer helps hydrate the skin and
keeps makeup looking fresher, longer. I tend to have really dry skin, so this
helps keep my face looking dewing and hydrated.
Smashbox Photo Finish, Luminizing- This primer adds luminosity while filling
in fine lines and pores. I love the way it leaves my skin glowing and sets the
 perfect undertone for my makeup.

Now that you are educated on all of the primers that Smashbox has to offer,
which one will you be using?

This post is brought to you by Smashbox Cosmetics .

Daily Skin Care Routine

One thing my mom always taught me growing up was to
take really good care of my skin. I have always made time and saved up
my money for good skin care products. I
know that there are a lot of great products (and more affordable
ones) out there, but these are the products that have stuck out against
all the rest.
The DDF Salicylic face wash has improved my skin tremendously. I have yet to
break out since I started using it! Most of the time I use a product, think it's working
and then it's almost as if my skin becomes immune to it and breaks out again. Not this one.
I am now a loyal user to this face wash and recommend it to everyone I know.
Although the DDF face wash works wonders, it really dries out my skin.
I have always had dry skin, so it made it even worse. (but hey, I'll take dry
skin over a breakout any day) I am a huge fan of moisturizing. I moisturized
my face and neck at least twice a day (once in the morning, once at night).
The Decléor Harmonie Moisturizer is by far my favorite moisturizer.
I have used products that make my skin burn, make my skin oily, make me break
out, etc. This moisturizer is really gentile, light and gets the job done.
I also use Decléor's Hydra Floral Eye Cream. I am really prone
to getting dark circle and under eye bags. I dab this eye cream on in the morning
and can feel and see the difference once I do!
The last part of my skin care routine is using Latisse. I know this does not
really have anything to do with skin, but it's part of my routine.
I always get asked questions about my eyelashes. No, I don't wear fake ones.
Latisse has drastically increased both the length and thickness of my lashes.
I used it for about 5 months and then stopped because my lashes became too long.
Even though many people said that my lashes would go back to normal, they
have stayed long and full. It's definitely worth the investment.

One part of my skin care routine that is not a product, is my Clarisonic.
My girlfriends kept telling me about how they were using a Clarisonic
and it really helped improve their skin. I'm not very good at exfoliating or using masks,
so I thought that this would be an easy way to get everything done all at once
and still keep using the products I love and that work for me.

*I have bought and used all of the products on my own. This is my own opinion
and I am not paid to promote any of these brands/products.

Wedding Hair: Up vs. Down

Images 1/2/3/4/5/6

I've been researching wedding hair for a while now.
I want an effortless and elegant look, but I am stuck between
wearing my hair up or down.
I love the look of long flowing hair and the youthfulness it gives, but wearing
my hair up makes me feel more sophisticated and timeless.
I still have some time to decide, but in the end I want to choose
whichever hairstyle I feel most comfortable and "me" in.

How To- Clipless Curling Iron

I finally tried out my first clipless curling iron a few weeks ago and I must admit- I'm hooked!
It creates loose beachy waves that look really natural. It's a lot easier to use than it looks and
much faster! (I have thick hair, so the faster the better)
I am using the José Eber 25 mm clipless curling iron in the giraffe print.

Lipsticks

I often get emails from girls asking me what my favorite lipsticks are, so I decided to put together a post on the lipsticks that are in current rotation in my beauty routine. As you can tell, I'm a huge fan of red. Although it is not quite as clear in the photos, each red lipstick that I use is a different shade.
Lipsticks are a great way to spice up any outfit, whether it be with a t-shirt and jeans or a lbd.

Double Braid Tutorial

Hey Gals!
If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter then you probably saw me post this hair style
on Monday. I received a lot of feedback asking for me to create a video tutorial, so I did!
I got the inspiration for this hairdo from a picture I found on pinterest.
I couldn't see the back so I just added a bun.
Hope you like it!

Daily Beauty Routine Tutorial

Then let your hair down...and your ready for the day!
(P.S. Follow me on Instagram, @juliahengel)

Hey Gals!
I have finally put together a video of my makeup routine. I know many of you have been asking, so I decided to video myself getting ready this morning :) Please don't make fun of me, I am such a nerd in the video...I even call myself a "moisturizing person." Awkward things just come out of my mouth when i'm talking to a camera all by myself.
Anywho, I list all of the products that I use on the screen while i'm using them and feel free to ask any questions! This look is very natural and subtle for every-day wear. In the beginning I am talking about a few products, but it speeds up while i'm doing my makeup. So hopefully it's not too boring!
Enjoy!

Twist & Braid Tutorial

Hey Gals!
I decided to do a video tutorial on the Twist & Braid hairstyle I did a post about here since many of you sent me emails or comments asking how exactly I did it! It's a fairly simple hairstyle and can be done in less than 10 minutes. Hope this helps out those of you who were interested!
Also, please let me know of any other hair styles, makeup looks, etc. that would like to see in the future.

Twist + Braid

If you have been reading my blog for some time, then you will know how much I love to try new hair styles. Sometimes when I'm bored I will just sit in front of the mirror and mess around with it. This is what I came up with today.
I parted my hair on the side, twisted the front and back, and then put it into a pony tail. I then braided it and put it into a bun on the side. I am also wearing my favorite red lipstick: Revlon, "Ravish Me Red"
Have a great weekend!

Juice Beauty

Blemish Clearing Powder
Lip Moisturizer in: Playful, Naturally Clear & Joyful
Tinted Mineral Moisturizer in Sand, Refining Finishing Powder
Stem Cellular Repair Eye Treatment, Stem Cellular Repair Moisturizer
Organic Facial Rejuvenating Mask, Green Apple Extra Firming Body Moisturizer

Hi Gals!
So sorry for the absence! I am on my college dance team and I was at dance camp all weekend in Anaheim. It was sooo much fun, but really exhausting.

Remember a few days ago when I mentioned Juice Beauty? Well I have been using their products for almost a week now and I have to tell you I have seen a dramatic change in my skin. It's the clearest, softest skin I think I have ever had! I have been using the Stem Cellular Repair Moisturizer and Stem Cellular Repair Eye Treatment every evening before I go to bed. I love it because my skin stays moisturized and the eye treatment has gotten rid of the dark circles around my eyes (something I have been trying to get rid of for forever!) Instead of using my foundation, I have been wearing the tinted moisturizer with refining finishing powder over it. It is light and fresh and the powder is so silky.

In case you didn't know, Juice Beauty is the ONLY 98% organic beauty product line. I had no idea how many toxins and terrible things were in the makeup and products I was using until I talked to Karen Behnke, the founder and owner of Juice Beauty. It's just something I have never really thought about. I love to live a healthy lifestyle of eating healthy and staying active, so why not incorporate that into my daily beauty routine?
You should all check out Juice Beauty's online site here and I strongly recommend trying out some of their products if you have not used them before!
